Reflection (Character Attributes - Creativity and Communication) on Hike from Bukit Timah Nature Reserve to McRitchie Resevoir (20110514)

For those who are holding the cards on Creativity and Communication, copy the quote that is most meaningful to you and explain why. Substantiate it with something that you had experienced, felt, observed, heard during the hike.

  1. Communication
"Communications without intelligence is noise; Intelligence without communication is irrelevant"- General Alfred Gray, USMC

At the submit, when we did the activity on the jumbled jump story, our group did not communicate very well with each other and thus, resulted in a slight error. It was because of poor communication between our group that let to that error

  2. communication
"The most important thing is to hear what is not being said."-Peter Drucker(1909-2005) Legendary Management Consultant

This is the quote that I find is the most true. In the case of the jumbled up story, some of us were to lazy to describe very detail of the picture, hence causing us to have some mistakes.

  3. Communication
"Listen with the intent to understand, not reply." - Unknown

I find this quote the most meaningful as we have to understand each other through words when we are doing an activity at the summit of Bukit Timah Hill. We are supposed to understand what each group member is trying to describe in a picture that we were given and line it up to form a story. Communication is important as we have to understand each other to work better as a group.

  4. Creativity
" Creativity is the power to connect the seemingly unconnected." -William Plomer ( 1903 - 1973) South African Author, Novelist, Poet and Literary Editor.

This quote shows how creativity can make the impossible, possible. Creativity is one of the most important components when facing challenges. When we faced some of those situations like the landslide, we had to be creative to come up with ways to get the to destination in 15mins.

  5. Creativity
"To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong."
    Joseph Chilton Pearce

This quote shows that in order to lead a creative life, you have to learn to accept the fact that you may be wrong and not necessary right all the time.
For example, the landslide situation, we had to find the shortest path up within 15 minutes, therefore, we had to take a risk to climb up through the trees and rocks to get to our destination. If we did not take the risk, we may not have reached our destination in time.
